Our Catholic Schools: St.Brigid of Kildare

“Our mission is to bring all students to Christ”

Families in Midland who seek a Catholic education for their children can benefit from three endowment funds administered by the Catholic Community Foundation of mid-Michigan.

The St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic School Endowment Fund, Cardinal Hickey Endowment for St. Brigid and the St. Gerard Society Fund for St. Brigid all provide funds for families who want a Catholic education for their children but cannot afford to pay the full cost of tuition.

“The benefit of the endowment funds is to provide a Catholic education for students regardless of their financial situation or social status,” said Laura Wilkowski, principal at St. Brigid.

Students and families also raise funds for the tuition support program. There is an annual Walk-a-Thon plus a committee that works to get local business sponsorships.

“Between the endowments and what we raise, we are able to offer assistance to families on an annual basis,” she said.

St. Brigid has a current enrollment of 139 students in grades K-8 with a devoted faculty and staff of 25 members. In addition to a faith-based education, the school has small class sizes, a reading specialist, and an elementary science specialist in grades K-5. There also are differentiated classrooms where students can advance beyond their grade level in math and reading.

Wilkowski said after-school programs include sports, Lego clubs, Battle of the Books, student council, leadership club, debate and robotics.

St. Brigid also offers after-school care until 6 p.m. every school day.
