Elsie Paas worked tirelessly and humbly as a champion of distressed and troubled children in the Saginaw Community, including neglected and abused children. She had faith in people and had a special connection with troubled youth. At the time of her retirement, The Saginaw News described her as the “Godmother, confessor, adviser and old friend of Saginaw’s delinquent and neglected children.” In honor of Elsie’s passion for helping children, her son James Paas created the Elsie Paas Endowment Fund for Saginaw Area Catholic Schools. The purpose of the fund is to provide tuition assistance to children wishing to attend a Saginaw Area Catholic School. This fund is open to all who wish to donate any amount at anytime.
